Governance in the Age of Generative AI, a World Economic Forum report

Dawex contributed to the latest World Economic Forum report on “Governance in the Age of Generative AI: A 360° Approach for Resilient Policy and Regulation”.

 

As a member of the AI Governance Alliance of the World Economic Forum,  Dawex took part in the works conducted by the Alliance Resilient Governance & Regulation working group, composed of 100+ members, all players from the AI value chain.

 

The Alliance aims at creating a meaningful dialogue about emerging AI development issues and ensuring AI serves the greater good while maintaining responsibility, inclusivity, and accountability

 


Gen AI is standing out as a transformative force, impacting various industries, economies, and societies worldwide. With the emergence of new regulation such as the European AI Act, pivotal moment requires forward-thinking leadership and a cooperative strategy for proactive governance.

This report is addressing the complexities of genAI by examining existing regulatory gaps, governance challenges, and the evolving needs of this dynamic technology, advocating for a harmonized approach to genAI governance that facilitates cooperation and interoperability. 

The swift advancement and widespread adoption of generative AI have urged governments to stay ahead and prepare for upcoming developments and impacts. Policymakers are exploring how generative AI can be harnessed for the public good, balancing economic and social opportunities while addressing potential risks.

To achieve this purpose, this report provides a comprehensive 360-degree governance framework, to:

 

  • Harness existing regulations and address gaps introduced by genAI
  • Foster whole-of-society genAI governance and cross-sector knowledge sharing
  • Incorporate preparedness and agility in generative AI governance and foster international cooperation

Data Exchange is critical to building trusted AI, as there is no trust in AI without trust in data. Therefore the AI industry needs to rely on verified, traceable data sources to make sure that models are ethical, explainable and trustable.
